Im doing some research on an english paper i have to write. Now this research includes me looking on Atheist forums…I saw someone’s post comparing the existence of God to the existence of Santa Claus. Seriously? As someone did respond, Santa Claus was based on a historical person, Saint Nicholus, and that was more to be said about anyone in the Bible. SERIOUSLY? Of course, there’s no mention of all the thousands of Historical documents that support the Bible and its authenticity.  That includes the authenticity of those in the Bible. And others say that even if God does exist, it really doesnt a difference to any of us on earth. Now i know that my God is in my everyday life, he gives the very breath i breathe, He is the reason for my existence and the existence of everyone. I know that my God loves me no matter what awful things i do, He loves me just as much as He loves those who deny his existence. And thats what i want everyone who doubts God. I may sound angry, which i was, but i more sad than anything. I want those who are hurting to feel Gods love, because honestly, theres nothing else like it.

Look, I’m sure you’re a nice person, but…well, I suggest you do some serious critical research about those “thousands of historical documents.”  And you might also want to talk to people who believe in Allah or in Shiva who feel just as sincerely about their God’s love as you do.  Which would be fine, except that the things that their gods tell them are completely contradictory to the things that your God tells you.

And trust me, I am not hurting in any way because of not feeling God’s love.  I am an extremely happy person.  And I know several extremely religious people who feel “God’s love” who are on the brink of suicide.

So, I seriously suggest that you look a little more deeply into who many atheists are.  We are neither dumb nor naive.  We are angry by hatreds propagated by the name of religion, not because we lack a god.  Many of us know the Bible and religious philosophy far, far better than you do.  Many of us have felt “God’s love” for decades and have been just as fully embraced in the faith as you before they became atheist, because they realized the impossibilities of what they were taught.  There are many, many reasons and many, many complex paths to atheism.  We are far from all being all the same, and from being perfect people, but please don’t underestimate who we are.
