How creationists view evolution

What, do you mean to imply that snails HAVEN’T evolved jets and that this is fake?  Darwin predicted this in Origin of Species, didn’t he?

Facts and truth are, of course, not important to the professional IDiot.  The objective is to project confidence and disdain for those who accept evolution in any way possible.  This, so, to create confusion in the uneducated and thus to win more converts to their cause.  Displaying facts merely gives them more material to quote-mine and make up lies about.

““Faith and Science” TAKE TIME TO READ. It’s worth reading it. Trust me :) Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ? Student : Yes, sir. Professor: So, you believe in GOD ? Student : Absolutely, sir. Professor : Is GOD good ? Student : Sure. Professor: Is GOD all powerful ? Student : Yes. Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm? (Student was silent.) Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good? Student : Yes. Professor: Is satan good ? Student : No. Professor: Where does satan come from ? Student : From … GOD … Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world? Student : Yes. Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct? Student : Yes. Professor: So who created evil ? (Student did not answer.) Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they? Student : Yes, sir. Professor: So, who created them ? (Student had no answer.) Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD? Student : No, sir. Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD? Student : No , sir. Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter? Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t. Professor: Yet you still believe in Him? Student : Yes. Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son? Student : Nothing. I only have my faith. Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has. Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat? Professor: Yes. Student : And is there such a thing as cold? Professor: Yes. Student : No, sir. There isn’t. (The lecture theater became very quiet with this turn of events.) Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it. (There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.) Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness? Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness? Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, well you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you? Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ? Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed. Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how? Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey? Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do. Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir? (The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.) Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher? (The class was in uproar.) Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain? (The class broke out into laughter. ) Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir? (The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.) Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son. Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that keeps things alive and moving. P.S. I believe you have enjoyed the conversation. And if so, you’ll probably want your friends / colleagues to enjoy the same, won’t you? Forward this to increase their knowledge … or FAITH. By the way, that student was EINSTEIN.”

Snopes debunks the story and explains why it’s stupid

I’m utterly stunned. I really have no clue how to react to something like this.

theatheistincognito, I felt you might find this interesting.

This article is kind of a gold mine of absolutely every stupid thing ever said by a Creationist who understands absolutely nothing about atheism or the theory of evolution.  I personally had a hard time reading past the second sentence.

This is why I don’t debate Creationists.  Anyone this ignorant and blind to their own errors in logic obviously don’t hold logic in high regard, and without logic, you really can’t convince anyone of anything.

Recently, a thought captivated my mind that proves that the theory of evolution is a big hoax. The thought is simple and yet profound … why is there no recorded history before approximately 4,000 B.C.? The answer is obvious … there was no history! Think about it! Evolutionists claim that man…

I know you can´t really convince a religious person otherwise, but it´s fairly easy to debate with actual christians, like those who genuinely  believe everything the bible says, are conservative and so on. No problem in disproving them.

But what about those who insist on being Catholic, but believe in evolution, science and are open minded- aka support the LBGTQ community, don´t oppose abortion, etc.?

Evolution is a massive problem for believers.  They would claim otherwise, but without the Creation account, there’s no original sin.  I’ll add to that below.  As for supporting LBGTQ and pro-choice, that shows that a respect for human rights isn’t granted or taken away by believing in a god.  However, it’s cherry-picking at its finest.  The god of the Bible is quite the abortionist (Hosea 9:11-16).  There’s also Hosea 13:16.

My dad, for example. He believes in evolution and loves science (he´s not one himself though), but still is convinced that God is behind it all, because hey, evolution had to be started by somebody too.
Also, he believes it´s fine not to go to church every sunday and be a strict Catholic, because as long as you´re a good person God will love you.

How do I explain to him that you can´t twist a religion? If you like science, support evolution, believe in equal rights, you´re not Catholic. It´s not logical, it goes against all of God´s supposed laws- which I admit is a loophole argument, as the bible contradicts itself shamelessly.

Okay, as stated above, Evolution presents a monumental problem for believers.  If Evolution is true, there’s no original sin.  Evolution is true; therefore, there’s no original sin.  However, think of the implications:  if there was no original sin due to the absence of the original sinner, namely Adam, Christ died for nothing.  Either that or he didn’t exist.  Read this post; it’s entirely based on what the Bible says in regards to the death of Christ.  Therefore, your dad should honor the argument.

You can support equal rights and be Catholic, but again, that’s extremely difficult.  One would be guilty of ignoring verses that state otherwise and held liable to explain the reason(s) why one ignores them.  A Christian cannot really support science either.  Science and Christianity are truly incompatible.  Even without Evolution, the incompatibility is as clear as day.  Starting in Genesis, one can see god’s ignorance concerning the cosmos he supposedly created.  He created the stars before the Earth; called the Sun a greater light as if it isn’t a star; called the Moon a lesser light as if it’s similar to the Sun.  Only 100 or so animals are mentioned in the Bible — 100 out of 1.45 million known species and 8.7 million estimated species.  He then claims to fit 2 (or 7?) of a kind in an ark that’s not even close to big enough at roughly 450x75x50.  The Book of Revelation says that a star by the name of Wormwood will fall on one-third of the waters (Revelation 8:10,11); yet there isn’t a star in our universe small enough to fit the description.  Again, god or more accurately, them who wrote the Bible demonstrate utter ignorance.  The Bible is not scientific by any stretch of the imagination.

But more importantly, how do I explain to him that there is no God needed behind evolution, and that there is no God and eternal life needed as a reward for being a good person?

God (his god specifically) isn’t necessary for Evolution to take place.  Natural selection is the main mechanism driving Evolution; there’s also Genetic Drift.  The god of the Bible is egotistical; thus, I’m sure that he wouldn’t allow for such naturalistic explanations; they rob him of his glory.  He would make his hand obvious; yet Evolution is explained thoroughly without the invocation of any god.

Heaven and hell are actually relics from previous religions.  They were born from the desires of men to live on.  Death is inevitable; survival is temporary.  Some live in denial of this.  That is why afterlives have been concocted.  Nonetheless, they aren’t necessary to punish or reward.  Reward arises from expectation.  One who does good for the sake of doing good is morally superior to one who does good whilst expecting a reward, especially one of eternal proportions.  Eternal punishment isn’t necessary either.  Wouldn’t it be nice to send Adolf Hitler to a hell-like place?  Absolutely not.  Such a notion arises from a clear misunderstanding of the effects upbringing, society, and other environmental factors have on people.  We have learned much since Hitler.  If he was a psychopath — and some would draw such a conclusion — he was one because he was simply unlucky.  Psychopathy has been linked to abnormal brain structure.  A lack of activation in the prefrontal cortex can explain a murder’s mind; furthermore, there are other factors that can explain violent behavior.  Therefore, it wouldn’t be right to condemn someone eternally due to complications they had no control over.  It follows that hell is completely unnecessary.

Why are people so hung up on this idea of a merciful, omnipotent being that will grant them eternal life and forgive all their sins that even when they acknowledge science and see all the evidence for biological processes the Christian faith opposes, they can´t let go of that idea?

We wrongly connect the dots my friend.  That’s what humans do.  However, correlation doesn’t imply causation.  Unfortunately, people connect their prayers for a job with actually getting one.  People connect their prayers for a relative to be healed of cancer with remission.  It’s a melancholy truth.  Moreover, there is a concept in Psychology known as simulacrum.  In simple terms, believers create their reality — one where the existence of god seems irrefutable.  This is why religious experience is so widespread.  It isn’t because a god exists.  Such a notion would be invalidated by certain observations that can be made in our natural world.  I simply cannot reconcile the hardships of children around the world with a Theistic god.  Omniscience would foresee the suffering and prevent it; omnipotence would prevent suffering while it occurs; omnibenevolence wouldn’t allow such suffering due to nature of perfect love — whatever that nature is being that no love is perfect.  Unfortunately, your father’s god boasts all of these qualities; yet his silence and inaction says otherwise and the mantra has been chanted for a long time.  Therefore, it is easy to conclude that he doesn’t exist.  I hope this helps.  :)

While thousands flocked to the Kentucky Horse Park this weekend for the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, the park was getting less admiring attention from a different quarter.

One of the leaders of the Creation Museum in Petersburg — which supports a young-earth philosophy that decrees men lived alongside dinosaurs — has taken issue with a display at the International Museum of the Horse on the evolution of horses.

Ken, come back when you have an understanding of basic biology.

It’s actually ironic because when you look at Ken Ham you can see that not all of us evolved, some are still just really dumb!

“Ham writes that in the display, two early horses, Miohippus and Merychippus, grow steadily bigger. “What’s the problem, though, with the belief that horses somehow evolved into larger and larger animals? If that were true, shouldn’t we see only very large horses today? But we don’t — horses vary in size from the Clydesdale to the much smaller Fallabella (just 17 inches tall).”

And we are listening to the opinions of the leaders of the Creation Museum, why?
