If jesus did exist, he was either delusional or mentally disturbed because if the account of him is correct, he believed he was part of a god that did not exist, he came to die for sins declared by a god that did not exist, and that he was the ultimate sacrifice to a god, that did not exist. The god of the old testament.
The myth goes, as I understand it, that Jesus died on a Friday night and rose on Sunday morning, so he seems to have only been dead for 36 hours or a day and a half at best.
I’ve head it said that he spent the time he was dead actually in Hell. He may not have liked the place much so that’s why he cut his time short there. So, there are some who would say that Jesus wasn’t actually dead during this time.
And then there’s the question of whether Jesus even existed before he was conceived unto Mary. If Jesus was actually “dead” between his death and resurrection, does this then give us a god who pops in and out of existence willy-nilly?
And, of course, since Jesus is only one aspect of the Trinity, this means that the trinity might at worst have been a duality at times.
I’m sure that there are Biblical apologists who can explain this fun stuff in detail with ideas that they’ve pulled out of their butts. I probably would have made a good apologist if I could ever have mustered the slightest sense of credulity to this bullshit.

Love this quote:
“developers promise free admission and an encounter with Jesus”
(Submitted by lost-carcosa)
If he ever even existed.
He’s not up in the clouds watching you.
He’s not putting on his blood dipped robes getting ready to come down for a final judgement.
You are not talking to him telepathically. The person you are talking to is imaginary.
You don’t have a personal relationship with him. You are having a personal relationship your idea of him. You are in fact having a personal relationship with an idea with imaginary attributes encompassed entirely within your own mind.
He supposedly said “Surely I come quickly”. It’s now been 2000 years. If the Biblical accounting of time is accurate (it isn’t), this is fully one third of the entire age of the universe. Even a god with a different sense of time would have to realize that he’s stretched the definition of “quickly” beyond any reasonable bounds by now.
He is dead.
He’s not coming back.
Ever.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-16 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
By saying, “WE who are still alive,” Paul clearly felt that Jesus would be coming back in his own lifetime. Paul died in about 67 CE. There have been 1,945 years of other Christians believing that Christ was going to come back in THEIR lifetime.
Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
There are those who argue that Jesus was speaking metaphorically in this passage, and that the generation he was speaking of was referring to the church throughout time. I doubt that any listeners would have taken his words that way, as no church even existed yet. I have a feeling they’d have been calling bullshit a long time ago.
The expiration date for Christ’s return was about 1,900 years ago at the very least. I am really rather at a loss as to how people can keeps saying, “any day now.”

Did Jesus Ever Take a Crap?
from Friendly Atheist
Yes, says derrida114, but we never hear about it, because the Bible only tells us the highlights of Jesus’ life, not the mundane/boring stuff.
That’s one of many things he says about Jesus in his most recent (and very entertaining) video… which also covers Tom Hanks and potato chips.
O.O
Do you really have to ask?
Of course, if Doctor Who is real, the world has to worry about constant alien annihilation, but with the doctor on the job, I wouldn’t worry too much. And if he fails (a blasphemous proposition, I admit), the worst that could happen is that we will all, like, die.
But if Christianity is real, that means that by far and away the vast majority of people alive today and throughout history will or are already burning in eternal torment, while those who do manage to make it to heaven will be spending eternity with the likes of Jerry Falwell and the dudes who used to torture people during the Spanish Inquisition.
And in one of those realities, I have a chance of eventually getting a sonic screwdriver.
So, honestly, there isn’t really a choice here, is there?

Thanks for your comments. I hope the day comes when you can stop acting, and that your stepmother and father will still accept you anyway.
Personally, even when I was growing up and felt that Jesus was probably a real person, I always thought that the story of his birth was bullshit. It felt, and still feels, too contrived, and just gives me the impression of a wholly made-up story that was tacked on after the fact because it sounded good. It’s historically inaccurate, and logically ludicrous. Even if there is some historical figure behind the Jesus myth, I’m convinced that the entire birth thing was fully fabricated.
